Infoplease recently released a couple of fascinating tools for the geography buff: a Distance Calculator and a Latitude/Longitude Finder. These powerful geographic tools enable users to search for the distances between 7.5 million locations around the world and find the geographic coordinates of virtually every place on Earth.

The Distance Calculator and Latitude/Longitude Finder of course have many practical and useful applications, but here are some of fun questions you can also answer with it:

  • How far is it from Boise, Idaho, to Carnegie Hall?
  • What’s the distance between the Statue of Liberty and Mount Rushmore?
  • What are the geographic coordinates of Timbuktu?
  • What’s the distance between Death Valley and Harvard?
  • What’s the exact location of the Taj Mahal?
  • How many miles between Niagara Falls and Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe?
  • What’s the longitude and latitude of Mount Everest?
Unlike other geographic tools, the Distance Calculator does not simply locate distances between cities and towns, but allows users to search the distances between parks, mountain peaks, famous buildings and monuments, mines, dams, schools, and a host of other places.
